STRONG WOMAN WALKING
•••
The ground thundered with grief,
wings broken, burned, disfigured;
Our Daughter.
A beautiful bird, the target of rage.
The bulls-eye of an ugly truth.
A grinding and unimaginable storm of desperation.
Let us speak to this.
Let us gather in the name of those who were hurt,
and then did the hurting.
Let us understand what it is to be a strong woman walking.
The spirits of the living wait near.
Our ancestors come close clearing the tangled path.
I will cry my tears of sorrow holding our tender hearts.
And move forward toward justice and healing.

writing & artwork by Paul Shilling
Hello Paul. My name is Molly Koenig. I am Kerry Little’s granddaughter. I am now 19 years old and it has been a long time since we last met. I have pursued art and watercolour painting as a passion that I use to connect with my Nanna, Kerry. I have come across your website and it has brought me to tears because I feel a connection. I feel a connection to her when I view your art. I miss her voice, her smile, and her wise words, but I do not miss her spirit because I feel it today. My art is only here today because of her and your art is a part of that. I just wanted to share that with you. Thank you.
